I always find the DBA profession is pretty much similar to a Doctor profession. Emergency knock the door at anytime, we cover business hours and business off hours too, we stay late in the office, we work from home on public holidays, we need to be reachable 24/7, 365 days, every other day there is a new challenge waiting for us, after all we are the one to handle organization’s mission critical data. So let’s call it Dr. DBA 😆
To enjoy being a DBA, and to do it properly, you need to enjoy the feeling that “this is my territory” and to take sole responsibility for a technically-demanding role.
